Enda Murphy is a research engineer with the NRC’s Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering research centre, and a member of the board of the Coastal Zone Canada Association. He has more than 16 years of coastal engineering research, design and consultancy experience. Since joining the NRC, Enda’s research focus has been towards an improved understanding and more sustainable management of coastal hazard risk in the changing climate. He led the development of consensus-based national guidelines for conducting coastal flood risk assessments. As part of a collaborative effort involving 77 organizations, Enda co-led a chapter of the International Guidelines for Natural and Nature-based Features for Flood Risk Management, published in 2021. He is presently steering a multi-disciplinary research partnership focused on understanding the performance of coastal nature-based solutions,
drawing on lessons learned from pilot projects in diverse coastal community settings.
